MARYVILLE, Mo. -- The Washburn men's tennis team wrapped up the Bearcat Invitational hosted by Northwest Missouri State University Saturday with the Ichabod duos
Paul Haase and
Chase Brill, as well as
Alejandro Valarezo and
Blake Hunter, becoming co-champions of the doubles slate.
Haase and Brill started off by defeating Southwest Baptist University's number one doubles team 8-6, then took town Northwest Missouri State's number two doubles team 8-4.
Valarezo and Hunter ran through two Northwest Missouri State teams en route to the final, when they claimed the co-championship with Haase and Brill.
On the singles bracket, Valarezo made final of men's singles bracket, winning the first three matches before facing off with Sherif Abohabaga and falling 6-2, 6-4.
Bradley Eidenmueller made the finals of the consolation bracket, winning four matches in the bracket, while Brill advanced to the semifinal, adding a victory in the initial bracket.
The Ichabods will take action next in the Midwestern State University Fall Invitational Friday and Saturday in Wichita Falls, Texas. For more information on the 2017-2018 men's tennis season, visit wusports.com.
