WICHITA FALLS, Texas. -- The Washburn women's tennis team finished off the Midwestern State University Saturday without a singles or doubles title for the first time this season.
The Ichabods did have success in multiple consolation brackets, winning the No. 1 and No. 3 singles consolation draws.
In doubles competition, the teams of
Jacqueline Engelbrecht/
Ally Burr and
Alexis Czapinski/
Logan Morrissey each advanced to the quarterfinals of the No. 1 bracket, while the No. 2 team of
Madison Lysaught and Makenna Gonzales fell in the first round of the main draw, and advanced to the finals of the consolation bracket.
Czapinski and Morrissey co-claimed the consolation bracket in No. 1 singles competition. The Ichabods in the No. 2 bracket, Lysaught and Engelbrecht each made the quarterfinals, and Gonzales took the No. 3 singles consolation bracket.
The Ichabods will travel to the ITA Central Regional in Springfield, Missouri starting Friday. The tournament will continue until Sunday, Oct. 1.
