First Serve …
• The Ichabods will be kicking off their first matches of the fall at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo., taking on Drury and McKendree this weekend.
• Washburn is coming off of its best season under head coach
Lance Lysaught after posting a 16-5 record, making the finals of the MIAA Tournament and making an appearance in the NCAA Regional Tournament.
• The Ichabods will be opening the season against Drury for the ninth straight season, their only victory against the Panthers in that stretch coming in 2016. Washburn trails the series 2-14 all-time.
• Washburn also meets up with McKendree for the third straight season, winning each of those matches.
• Washburn leads the all-time series with McKendree 2-1, their only loss coming in 1970.
Nationally Ranked Ichabods …
• As a team, the Ichabods find themselves ranked No. 19 in the nation, the first top-25 appearance in the ITA poll under head coach
Lance Lysaught.
• After a historic fall,
Alejandro Valarezo Plaza is ranked No. 4 in the nation in singles.
• Valarezo Plaza and
Blake Hunter continue dominance in doubles play, earning themselves a No. 4 national ranking.
Regional Rankings Abound …
• The Ichabods are ranked No. 3 in the Central region.
• Four Ichabods make the regional rankings in singles play, including Valarezo Plaza at No. 1.
• Joining Valarezo Plaza is
Blake Hunter at No. 12, freshman
Bradley Eidenmueller at No. 15, and sophomore
Paul Haase at No. 17.
• The Valarezo Plaza/Hunter team also tops the doubles regional rankings.
History Made in the Fall …
• Valarezo Plaza made history as the first Ichabod to win the ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Tournaments.
• The four Ichabods in the top 20 regional singles rankings each made the round of 16 in the ITA Regional Singles Tournament.
• In fall tournament play, the Ichabods swept the doubles portion of the Wheatstate Fall Classic.
• Sophomore
Chase Brill also won the C-singles bracket at the same tournament.
New Faces …
• After impressive fall debuts, freshmen Eidenmueller and
Raul-Alin Dicu will be making their first duals appearances in the spring.
• Former Ichabod
Matt Barlow also makes his duals coaching debut, assisting head coach
Lance Lysaught. Barlow is a two-time team MVP and has made multiple All-MIAA honors.

Moving up the Career Ranks …

Blake Hunter needs just seven wins in the spring to become the All-time leader in men's doubles victories in Washburn history.
• Valarezo Plaza has also moved his way into the top 10 in doubles victories over the fall, and looks to move up even higher.

Blake Hunter sits at seventh in all-time victories. Valarezo Plaza needs just one singles victory to move into tenth all-time.
