ROME, Ga. -- It took all three sets, but
Logan Morrissey and
Alexis Czapinski won their final match of the ITA Cup to finish third in all of Division II.
The Ichabods faced off against Nikol Alexeeva and Anna Novikova from the University of Indianapolis for the third-place match. Morrissey/Czapinski made an opening statement as they claimed the first set 6-1, but stumbled in the second set 3-6. The Washburn duo held strong in the third set and came out on top 10-8 to win the match.
For the first time in program history, both the Washburn women's and men's teams won third place at the national tournament as Alejandro Valarezo Plaza and Paul Haase also won their match on Saturday.
This concludes a successful fall season for the Ichabods. Washburn tennis will return to the courts in February for the spring season.
