Ichabods fall in second game of Central Regional Challenge

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Concordia-St. Paul used an 11-5 run over the final 4:52 of the game turning a six-point deficit into a 61-59 win over Washburn in the Ichabods' final game of the 2018 Central Region Challenge at Municipal Auditorium on Saturday. The Ichabods (0-2) will return to action on Nov. 16 at Rockhurst.
 
The Ichabods led 56-50 with 4:41 to go in the game, but Washburn went cold from the field hitting 2 of their final 10 shots while the Bears were only 2 of 5 from the field, but went 6 of 8 from the free throw line as they rallied for the win.
 
Washburn led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter and 27-26 entering the halftime break. Washburn led by a pair at the end of the third quarter at 42-40.
 
Overall in the fourth quarter, Washburn was 8 of 21 while CSP was 4 of 10 from the field, but went 12 of 14 from the free throw line helping to fuel their rally while the Ichabods were scoreless in two trips to the free throw line.
 
Regan Phelan led Washburn with 16 points while Alexis McAfee had 10. Hunter Bentley had seven rebounds to lead the Ichabods.
 
Overall, Washburn was 23 of 64 from the field for a 36 percent clip while the Bears were 17 of 47, also a 36 percent average. But CSP was 24 of 33 from the free throw line compared to 10 of 16 for the Ichabods.
 
Washburn outrebounded the Bears 41 to 38 and forced CSP into 16 turnovers while committing 15 of its own.
