Box Score OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The Washburn women's tennis team fell to 1-2 Saturday, losing to Oklahoma Baptist University 3-6.
The Ichabods, tabbed as the No. 9 team in the Central Region, took on the No. 4 regionally-ranked Bison on the road and started off strong, winning two of the three doubles matches. The No. 1 team of
Alexis Czapinski and
Logan Morrissey defeated the No. 1 Bison duo handily, 8-2, while the No. 2 Ichabods team of
Jacqueline Engelbrecht and
Alysha Nowacki won their match 8-6.
On the singles side, the Ichabods came away almost empty-handed if not for the efforts of Czapinski, who defeated OBU's No. 1 singles player Kim Moosbacher 6-2, 6-3.
Madison Lysaught took her No. 5 singles opponent to a tiebreaker in set two, and No. 6
Ally Burr fought to a three-set match before ultimately falling to the Bisons' Megan Bowlin.
The Ichabods next match will be against the Ottawa University Braves, head coach
Lance Lysaught's former team. The NAIA squad is currently 1-2 on the season. The dual will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Topeka Country Club.
