Box Score TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Washburn women's tennis team impressed Saturday in a 9-0 tuneup win over NAIA foe Tabor College.

The Ichabods first had a clean sweep in doubles action, as the No. 1 and No. 2 teams won 8-3, while the No. 3 team of MaKenna Gonzales and Ally Burr took their match 8-1.

In singles action, the Ichabods were able to clinch after Jacqueline Engelbrecht defeated Naima Mexsen 6-2, 6-3. The Bluejays' No. 1 player, Jessica Emoto, was a tough out for the Ichabods' Alexis Czapinski. After Czapinski won the first set 6-1, Emoto was able to take the second set 6-3. In the tiebreaker set, Czapinski pulled out an impresive 10-1 decision to go to 15-3 in singles play on the season.

The second half of singles matches were quick outs for the Ichabods. Both Madison Lysaught and MaKenna Gonzales won 6-0, 6-0 out of their respective slots, while No. 4 Alysha Nowacki took down Tabor's Mandi Hiett 6-0, 6-1.

The Ichabods moved to 3-2 on the season with the win, the first time the Ichabods have been over .500 on the season. Their next match will be against Newman, when they take on the Jets at noon Saturday in Wichita, Kan.
