Box Score SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The women's tennis team impressed on Saturday after a tough opening-night loss to No. 12 Drury with a crushing 9-0 victory over McKendree.
With just five available competitors, the Bearcats had to forfeit the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches, but pure domination by the Ichabods led to the sweep.
The regionally-ranked team of Alexis Czapisnki and
Logan Morrissey took down McKendree's No. 1 doubles pair, while
Jacqueline Engelbrecht and freshman
Alysha Nowacki had a quick 8-3 win over the Bearcats' No. 2 team.
Nowacki also got her first taste of singles success, winning out of the No. 4 slot in straight sets. Engelbrecht remained undefeated in the spring, winning the No. 3 singles match to go to 2-0 on the season.
Now at 1-1, the Ichabods will look to start a winning streak when they take on Oklahoma Baptist. The match with the Bison will take place at 1 p.m. Feb. 10, in Oklahoma City, Okla.
