No. 19 Ichabods to Travel to Oklahoma to Take on Bison

 First Serve …
•    The Ichabods will be facing off with their first regional opponent of the season in Oklahoma Baptist University Saturday.
•     The Bison rank just behind the Ichabods in the regional rankings at No. 4, and are also ranked 21st nationally.
•      In last season's meeting, the Ichabods served up a 9-0 drubbing of the Bison.
•  Washburn leads the all-time series with OBU 2-0, both wins coming under head coach Lance Lysaught.

 Week in Review …
•  The Ichabods split two matches to start the season last week, losing to Drury 3-6 Friday before  sweeping McKendree 9-0 Saturday.
•  The Panthers of Drury were ranked No. 13 in the nation before defeating the Ichabods, and first in their region.
•  Alejandro Valarezo Plaza and Bradley Eidenmueller were the two singles victors against Drury, while the doubles team of Chase Brill and Paul Haase won their match against the Panthers.
•  The duo of Valarezo Plaza and Blake Hunter lost just their second doubles match of the season against Drury. The No. 4 team in the country now sits at 16-2 on the year.
•  Eidenmueller moved up the the No. 4 singles slot against McKendree after winning the No. 6 singles match against Drury.
•  Tommy Hunter won his debut singles match of the spring Saturday at the No. 6 slot.

 Nationally Ranked Ichabods …
•    As a team, the Ichabods find themselves ranked No. 19 in the nation, the first top-25 appearance in the ITA poll under head coach Lance Lysaught.
•    After a historic fall, Valarezo Plaza is ranked No. 4 in the nation in singles.
•  The aformentioned team of Valarezo Plaza and Hunter remain at No. 4 in the nation in doubles.

 Regional Rankings Abound …
•    The Ichabods are ranked No. 3 in the Central region.
•      Four Ichabods make the regional rankings in singles play, including Valarezo Plaza at No. 1.
•    Joining Valarezo Plaza is Blake Hunter at No. 12, freshman Bradley Eidenmueller at No. 15, and sophomore Paul Haase at No. 17.
•    The Valarezo Plaza/Hunter team also tops the doubles regional rankings.

 History Made in the Fall …
•  Valarezo Plaza made history as the first Ichabod to win the ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Tournaments.
•    The four Ichabods in the top 20 regional singles rankings each made the round of 16 in the ITA Regional Singles Tournament.
•    In fall tournament play, the Ichabods swept the doubles portion of the Wheatstate Fall Classic.
•    Sophomore Chase Brill also won the C-singles bracket at the same tournament.

 New Faces …
•  Eidenmueller and Raul-Alin Dicu played their first duals matches as Ichabods, with Eidenmueller going 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles, while Dicu went 0-1 in singles and 1-1 in doubles action.
•    Former Ichabod Matt Barlow is in his first season as an assistant coach. Barlow is a two-time team MVP and has made multiple All-MIAA honors.

 Moving up the Career Ranks …
•    Blake Hunter needs just six more wins in the spring to become the all-time leader in men's doubles victories in Washburn history.
•    Valarezo Plaza has also moved his way into the top 10 in doubles victories over the fall, and looks to move up even higher in the spring.
•    In singles action, Blake Hunter sits at sixth place in all-time victories with 64, while Valarezo Plaza has moved into a tie at ninth place with 57 wins.
