EDMOND, Okla. -- The Washburn Ichabod Softball team went 2-1 in the weather-shortened UCO/OC Festival as cold weather and the possibility of wet playing conditions canceled the final day on Saturday. Washburn will be back in action next weekend at the Eight State Classic next in Bentonville, Ark.
Game 1 - Washburn 11, Rogers State 6
The Ichabods opened scoring with a solo home run by
Lacie Myers and then scored three runs in the third and four more in the fourth to blow the game open.
After a double by
Emilee Baker and a single by
Alyssa Carney, a 2 RBI double by
Savannah Moore scored both and she would late score on a double by
Lacie Myers to wrap up the third.
In the fourth, a three-run blast by Moore put Washburn up 8-0 as
Courtney Todd reached on a double and single by
Samantha Stallbaumer and one more by Baker set the table for Moore.
Rogers State scored two in the bottom of the fourth to cut the lead to 8-2.
Washburn picked up a solo run on a pinch hit double by
Lexie Myers scoring
Brianna Francis to go up 9-2.
However the Hillcats scored three in three in the bottom of the sixth and one more in the seventh.
In the sixth, the Ichabods took advantage of an error and added two more runs leading to the 11-6 win after poundning out 13 hits.
Kelsee Henry picked up the win tossing five innings allowing two hits and two earned runs.
Moore drove in five in the game with two hits and
Lacie Myers recorded three to pace the Ichabod attack.
Game 2 - Oklahoma Christian 8, WU 0
The Lady Eagles scored four runs in the third and four more in the fifth leading to a five inning win.
Washburn was limited to four hits in the game.
Emilee Baker,
Samantha Stallbaumer,
Savannah Moore and
Courtney Todd each had hits for the Ichabods.
Game 3 - Washburn 5, Southern Nazarene 1
Southern Nazarene scored its only run in the top of the first and the Ichabods were held scoreless until scoring all five of their runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Lenae Salinas led off the inning with a walk and
Samantha Stallbaumer recorded a single and then
Emilee Baker's 3-run homer put the Ichabods up 3-1. With two outs, a single by
Taylor Kirk and a walk by
Lexie Myers and both came around to score on single by
Halle England and
Brianna Francis.
Megan Deiter improved to 3-0 scattering three hits and striking out 10 allowing the first inning run.
Baker drove in three with the two hits and Stallbaumer had two as well.
