No. 21 Ichabods Preparing for MIAA Road Opener against Lopers

First Serve …
•    The No. 21 Ichabods will look to continue riding high, taking a six-match winning streak to Grand Island, Nebraska to take on UNK on Friday.
•     The Lopers are 7-2 on the season, holding a No. 6 ranking in the ITA Central region.
•      This marks the 23rd meeting between the Ichabods and the Bearcats, with the Ichabods boasting a 14-8 all-time series advantage.
•   Under head coach Lance Lysaught, the Ichabods are 1-2 against the Lopers.

 Week in Review …
•  The Ichabods won their MIAA opener against Northwest Missouri last Wednesday.
•  The win marked the first for the Ichabods against the Bearcats in almost nine years.
•  Alejandro Valarezo maintained his perfect duals record this season, defeating the Bearcats No. 1 singles player Josef Altmann in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.
•  Bradley Eidenmueller bounced back from his first duals singles defeat with a tough 6-2, 3-6, 11-9 win at the No. 4 slot.
•  Both the No. 1 doubles team of Valarezo and Blake Hunter, and the team of Paul Haase and Chase Brill, which shifted to the No. 3 slot for last Wednesday's match, improve to 6-1 in duals action. Valarezo/Hunter defeated the team of Youssef Sherif and Jorge Serrano, the No. 13 team in the country.
•  At the No. 6 slot, Raul-Alin Dicu moved to 5-0 on the year, and 5-1 overall in duals, which includes his loss at the No. 5 slot against Drury.

 Nationally Ranked Ichabods …
•    As a team, the Ichabods find themselves ranked No. 21 in the nation, dropping slightly from their No. 19 preseason ranking after their opening-match loss to now No. 12 Drury.
•    After a historic fall, Valarezo is ranked No. 4 in the nation in singles.
•  The aformentioned team of Valarezo and Hunter are also No. 4 in the nation in doubles.

Regional rankings abound …
•    The Ichabods are ranked No. 3 in the Central region.
•      Four Ichabods make the regional rankings in singles play, including Valarezo at No. 1.
•    Joining Valarezo is Blake Hunter at No. 12, freshman Bradley Eidenmueller at No. 15, and sophomore Paul Haase at No. 17.
•    The Valarezo/Hunter team also tops the doubles regional rankings.

 History Made in the Fall …
•  Valarezo made history as the first Ichabod to win the ITA Regional Singles and Doubles Tournaments.
•    The four Ichabods in the top 20 regional singles rankings each made the round of 16 in the ITA Regional Singles Tournament.
•    In fall tournament play, the Ichabods swept the doubles portion of the Wheatstate Fall Classic.
•    Sophomore Chase Brill also won the C-singles bracket at the same tournament.

 New Faces …
•      Eidenmueller is continuing his impressive start to his freshman season, with a 14-4 overall singles record, 6-1 in duals action. In duals play, Dicu is now 5-1 on the year in singles and 4-2 in doubles matches.
•    Former Ichabod Matt Barlow is in his first season as an assistant coach. Barlow is a two-time team MVP and has made multiple All-MIAA honors.

 Moving up the Career Ranks …
•    Blake Hunter needs just one more win in the spring to become the all-time leader in men's doubles victories in Washburn history.
•    Valarezo has also moved his way into the top 10 in doubles victories over the fall, climbing up to a tie for fifth all-time.
•    In singles action, Blake Hunter sits at third place in all-time victories with 68, while Valarezo has moved into seventh place with 63 wins.  
•    Valarezo also holds the top spot all-time is doubles winning percentage, at .843.
