TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn men's tennis team dropped its second straight match Sunday, losing to No. 16 Southwest Baptist, 6-3.

The Ichabods were able to take a 2-1 lead after doubles, with No.'s 1 and 3 beating the Bearcats. Alejandro Valarezo and Blake Hunter were able to bounce back after their third loss of the season, defeating SBU's No. 1 team of Gyorgy and Ferenc Agoston. The No. 3 team of Paul Haase and Chase Brill also kept up their impressive record with their doubles victory.

In singles action, the Ichabods were able to pick up just one win. At the No. 6 slot, Raul-Alin Dicu beat the Bearcats' Carlos Corser 7-5, 7-5. Valarezo fell in singles play for just the second time since duals season, losing to Central Regional runner-up Sherif Abohabaga 6-2, 6-2.

With the loss, the Ichabods drop to 7-4 on the year, all of those losses coming to teams in the top 20 national rankings. Their next match will be on April 3, when they take on Lindenwood. The match will be at 2 p.m. in Topeka, Kan.
