TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn men's tennis team celebrated senior day with a 7-2 win over Rockhurst Tuesday.

Blake Hunter, the lone senior of the team, was honored, and added to his decorated career with his 88th doubles victory along with partner Alejandro Valarezo. That total increases the school record he set earlier this season.

That was one of two doubles wins the Ichabods had on the day, holding a 2-1 lead heading into singles play. The Ichabods were able to take five of the six singles matches, winning in straight sets in slots 4-6. Valarezo also added onto his school record of singles victories in a single season with his 26th win against the Hawks' Nicolas Riveros. At No. 2 singles, Paul Haase was able to outlast Oskar Unger of Rockhurst after falling in the first set, winning the second and the super tiebreaker.

With the win, the Ichabods jump to 10-4 on the season, with just one match remaining before the MIAA tournament, where the Ichabods will be the No. 3 seed. That match will be against William Woods, which will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Washburn Tennis Complex.
