TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn women's tennis team finished MIAA play with a winning record Thursday, as the Ichabods defeated Emporia State 9-0.

Playing with just four players, the Hornets had to forfeit three matches, giving the Ichabods a 3-0 head start heading into doubles action. After the No. 1 and No. 2 teams pulled out victories, the Ichabods had already clinched the win.
In singles play, each of the Ichabods in action defeated their opponents in doubles play. Alexis Czapinski, Jacqueline Engelbrecht, Logan Morrissey and Madison Lysaught each added a win to their season totals, cinching up a 9-0 and improving to 9-7 on the season, 5-4 in conference play.

The Ichabods have two more non-conference matches before the start of the MIAA tournament, starting with Rockhurst at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Topeka. The Hawks are 9-5 on the year.
