Ichabods Look to Carry Momentum into Final Week of Regular Season

First Serve …
•    The Washburn women's tennis team remains home for one match, hosting Rockhurst, after their successful homestand against conference foes Lindenwood and Emporia State. They will then travel to Kansas City to take on William Woods for the Ichabods' regular-season finale, pending weather-related updates to the schedule.
•  The Hawks are 9-6 on the season, while the Owls are 8-3. The Owls are ranked No. 7 in the NAIA.
•  The Ichabods look to build leads upon both series', as they lead the Hawks 16-11 and the Owls 1-0. The Ichabods and Owls first met up just last season.

 Week in Review …
•    The Ichabods finished off their conference season last week with a pair of victories over Lindenwood and Emporia State.
•    They ended with a conference record above .500 for the second year in a row.
•    Three singles players and two doubles teams finished with 2-0 records for the week. Alexis Czapinski, Jacqueline Engelbrecht and Logan Morrissey each finished with a perfect record, while the doubles teams of Czapinski/Morrissey and Engelbrecht/Madison Lysaught also defeated both the Lions and the Hornets.
•    Now sitting at No. 9 in the ITA National Rankings, the team of Czpanski and Morrissey is now 15-1 in duals action, 23-4 overall.

 Ichabods Season Outlook …                                          
•    In the ITA preseason poll, the Ichabods are ranked No. 9 in the Central Region.
•    Two singles players find themselves in the ITA preseason regional rankings; Alexis Czapinski debuts at No. 12, while Logan Morrissey begins the year at No. 15.
•    In regional doubles rankings, the team of Czapinski and Morrissey are ranked No. 5.
•    Czapinski has climbed back up to No. 49 in the ITA National Singles Rankings, while the aforementioned team of Czapinski/Morrissey being ranked No. 9.
•    The Ichabods are challenged with one of the toughest conferences in the country, as five teams are ranked in the national top 50.

 Making Adjustments …
•      With Logan Morrissey starting the year at No. 2, and Jacqueline Engelbrecht starting at No. 3, the two have swapped slots with success, as they are both 2-1 in their new respective positions.
•    After pairing with Madeline Hill at the No. 1 doubles slot last season, Engelbrecht has found her spot at No. 2 doubles, and is currently 9-7 on the season.
•    Logan Morrissey has found massive amounts of success after bumping up to No. 1 doubles, boasting a 23-4 record on the season with partner Alexis Czapinski.

 Successful Fall …
•  The Ichabods had multiple first-place finishes in fall season tournaments, including sweeping each singles bracket at the Wheatstate Fall Classic.
•    Alexis Czapinski also won the singles bracket in the Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Northwest Missouri State.

 Impressive ITA Showings …
•     Czapinski and Morrisey each made the round of 16 in the regional singles tournament, as well as the duo making it to the quarterfinal round of the doubles tournament.

 New Faces …                                                                     
•    Czapinski, in her first spring with the Ichabods, is racking up impressive victories on both the singles and doubles sides. She is 22-7 on the year in singles, and 23-4 in doubles.
•     The Ichabods have a new assistant coach in Matt Barlow. As part of the men's tennis team from 2014-2017, he racked up numerous conference honors, and was a two-time team MVP for Washburn.
