Soccer travels to Missouri this weekend

Take a Look Ahead
  • The Ichabods will travel to Missouri to face to conference opponents.
  • Washburn soccer will player Central Missouri on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in Warrensburg, Mo.
  • The Ichabods will take on Missouri Southern on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m in Joplin, Mo.
Last Time Out
  • The Ichabods finished a weekend at home 1-0-1
  • On Friday, Oct. 25 the Ichabods tied Newman 2-2 after two overtimes. 
  • Josie Rimmer scored the first goal to tied the Jets, 1-1 with an assist from Whitney Bockover.

Ichabods vs. Jennies

Ichabods vs. Lions

Scouting the Jennies

Central Missouri was selected second in the MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll after an impressive 2018 season finishing 19-5-1, winning the NCAA Central Regional. So far this season the Jennies are 11-1-1 and 5-0-1 in conference play. The Jennies are currently ranked No. 5 by the United Soccer Coaches' Poll. 

The Jennies lost to No. 25 , and currently No. 21, Minnesota State 0-2. They tied Newman 0-0 after double overtime as well. The Jennies have outscored their opponents, 34-10, and have tallied six shutouts so far this season. Their offense averages 2.62 goals a game and have taken 200 shots with 104 on goal. 

Makayla Toth leads Central Missouri with 13 goals and six assists. In the 2018 season she was the second leading scorer for the team with 16 goals and 10 assists. Toth has tallied four game winning goals so far this season. Kassie Newsom is another offensive threat for the Jennies, as she has six goals and six assists so far. 

The defense returns second team D2CCA all-Region selection, Allysa Gann, who has contributed to the six shutouts this season. Returning to protect the net for the Jennies is sophomore goalkeeper, Lindsey Johnson, who has a save percentage of .820 after saving 41 of the 141 shots she has faced so far this season. 

Scouting the Lions

Missouri Southerntied for 11th on MIAA Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing the 2018 7-8-3 and 3-6-2 in conference matches. So far this season the Lions are 2-11-1 and 1-5-1 in conference matches. 

The Lions defeated Missouri Western, 4-1, and Drury, 1-0. Missouri Southen has scored 18 goals this season taking 151 shots and 78 of them on goal. 

Leading scorers for the Lions are Bailey Belcher and Ashton Manwil. Belcher was the leading scorer last season for the Lions with six goals. Missouri Southern has a shot percentage of .517 this season.

On the defensive end the Lions are led by Rylie Johnson who started and appeared in all 18 matches last season. She has started in all 14 matches so far this season for the Lions and contributed to the win over Missouri Western. 

The Lions will face Emporia on Friday, Oct. 25 before facing Washburn on Sunday, Oct. 27.
