Washburn soccer prepares for final matches of regular season

Last Time Out
  • The Ichabods finished a weekend on the road 0-2-0
  • Washburn fell to No. 5 Central Missouri on Friday, 0-1.
  • After the first half both teams were scoreless.  
  • The Ichabods kept Jennies scoreless for 70 minutes of the match. 
  • On Sun., Oct. 27 the Ichabods lost to the MSSU Lions, 1-2.
  • Halle Hill scored for the Ichabods with the assist from Josie Rimmer, to put the team on the board first.
  • MSSU soccer scored both goals in the second half.

Ichabods vs. Hornets
  • Washburn defeated Emporia on Sept. 22, 3-1, for  the first time in four years.

Ichabods vs. Tigers

Scouting the Hornets
Emporia has only lost two matches since losing to the Ichabods in September. The Hornets lost to Northeastern State, 4-1, and Central Missouri, 1-0, in overtime. The Hornets and the Ichabods each tied Newman after two overtimes, and beat Central Oklahoma. Emporia has already clinched their spot in the MIAA Championships and received votes in this week's United Soccer Coaches Top-25 Poll. 

Mackenzie Dimarco leads the Hornets with 16 goals and two assists so far this season. Dimarco tallied one against Washburn earlier this season in a nonconference match. She currently leads four categories on the MIAA statistical leader board. 

Jillian Patton defends the goal for the Hornets holding a record of 9-2-1. She has a save percentage of .768 saving 53 of the 139 shots she has faced. Washburn tallied two goals against her last time the teams met, and one against Tori Bailey as well.


Scouting the Tigers
Fort Hays has only lost two matches since the last time they played Washburn. The team is currently 8-4-2 and 4-2-2 in conference matches. The Tigers are currently sitting in fifth place in the MIAA standings. 

Fort Hays lost to Emporia and Northeastern State after playing Washburn. The Tigers lost to Emporia, 1-2, and lost to Northeastern State, 0-1. The Tigers have also beaten Central Oklahoma. 

Cailey Perkins, who scored the game winning goal against Washburn, is tied in goals at four with teammate Darby Hirsch. Fort Hays has tallied 18 goals this season and average 1.29 goals a game. The team has taken 151 shots with 71 of them on goal. 

Megan Kneefel has a record of 7-3-2 in goal saving 57 of the 144 shots she has faced. She has a save percentage of .891 so far this season. 

Fort Hays will play Nebraska-Kearney before facing Washburn on Sunday, Nov. 3.
