Box Score TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn soccer lost in the 96th minute to Northwest Missouri, 1-0, on Fri., Oct. 4. Washburn out shot the Bearcats 17-12 and lead in shots on goal 8-6. With the loss the Ichabods are now 5-3-0 and the Bearcats are 3-5-1 so far this season.
In the first half both teams were scoreless. Northwest led the attack and out shot the Ichabods 5-3.
Raegan Wells saved all two shots on goal taken by the Bearcats.
Mackenzie Menke recorded two shots for the Ichabods.Â
At the start of the second half Washburn came out strong. The Ichabods tallied seven shots in 13 minutes but could not connect. At the end of the 90th minute it was still scoreless at Yager Stadium. The Ichabods tallied 12 shots and seven shots on goal, with
Olivia Grasso and
Tera Lynch each taking three shots on goal. Wells did a tremendous job protecting the net, saving all three shots on goal taken by the Bearcats. The Ichabod defense kept the Bearcats to only six shot attempts in the second half.Â
Grasso found the first shot of the 10 minute overtime but it was saved by the Bearcat goalkeeper. In the 96th minute the Bearcats scored the golden goal with a shot to the bottom right corner of the net to win the match, 1-0. Wells finished with five saves. Lynch and Grasso led the Ichabods in shots on goal with three each. Lynch tallied four shots as well.Â
Washburn will host Missouri Western on Sun., Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. to close out the weekend.
