Box Score TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn soccer lost to Missouri Western, 1-0, in the 92nd minute on Sun., Oct. 6. The Ichabods are now 5-3-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference matches so far this season. Washburn out shot Missouri Western 25-18 and led in shots on goal 14-10.
In the first half of the match, both teams were scoreless at Yager Stadium. The teams were tied with 11 shot attempts each but Washburn led in shots on goal, 7-6.
Tera Lynch tallied three shots on goal for the Ichabods.
Raegan Wells saved all six shots on goal taken by the Griffons.
The Ichabods and the Griffons were scoreless until Missouri Western scored in the 70th minute to take the lead, 1-0. Washburn forward,
Josie Rimmer, tied up the match in the 83rd minute with a goal assisted by Lynch. The Ichabods attempted 14 shots with seven of them being on goal. Washburn defense, led by
Emily Michaelis and
Whitney Bockover, kept Missouri Western to only two shots on goal in the second half of the match. Washburn and Missouri Western were tied, 1-1, at the end of regulation.
Missouri Western scored the golden goal in the 92nd minute to win the game.
Raegan Wells finished the match with eight saves. Lynch led Washburn with six shots on goal. and eight shot attempts.
Mackenzie Menke attempted six shots.
Washburn soccer will travel to Tahlequah, Okla. to face Northeastern State on Fri., Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.
