WARRENBURGS, Mo. -- Washburn women's soccer fell to No. 4 Central Missouri 2-1 on Fri., Nov. 8 in the MIAA Quarterfinals. The Ichabods finished the 2019 season 7-10-1 overall and 3-7-1 in conference matches.
In the first half of the Jennies attacked first scoring in the 8th minute of the match to take a 1-0 lead over the Ichabods. Raegan Wells saved three shots in a span of a minute to keep the Ichabods in the game. Olivia Grasso fired off two shots on goal for the squad. Central Missouri out shot the Ichabods 6-2. Wells tallied five saves.
Washburn came out aggressive in the second half. Grasso took two shots on goal for the Ichabods at the start of the half. The defensive led by Whitney Bockover kept the Jennies to only two shots in the first 20 minutes of the match. Central Missouri scored in the 77th minute of the match to increase their lead to 2-0 over the Ichabods.
In the 80th minute Washburn scored to chip away at the lead. Grasso scored off a free kick to get the Ichabods on the board. Halle Hill took a shot for the squad a minute later but could not find the back of the net. Washburn out shot the Jennies 7-6 and had four shots on goal in the second half.
Wells finished the match with five saves. Grasso tallied five shots on goal and scored the goal for the Ichabods. That goal ties her for top scorer of the 2019 season with Josie Rimmer and is the second season in a row she led the Ichabods in goals. Tera Lynch recorded two shots and one shot on goal for the Ichabods. Lynch led the Ichabods in assists this season with six.
