MIDLOTHIAN, Texas -- In a showdown between two undefeated tennis teams, it was the Washburn Ichabods who maintained their perfect 4-0 record as they took down Southern Arkansas (3-1) by the score of 5-2 on Friday evening. 

Washburn won the doubles point after an impressive showing by each pair. Alexis Czapinski and Logan Morrissey handled their opponents, 6-1, while Kinsey Fields and Maria Soler Valverde posted a 6-2 victory. Although the match was unfinished, Jacqueline Engelbrecht and Svea Crohn held a 5-2 advantage in their match.

In singles action, the Ichabods won the first four spots down the lineup to claim the team victory. Morrissey and Soler Valverde picked victories at the No. 3 and 4 position to give Washburn a 3-0 lead. At the top of the order, Engelbrecht dropped the first set, but bounced back to take the second and third to clinch the win. Czapinski rounded out the scoring for the Ichabods with her three set victory.

The Ichabods will stay in Texas for tomorrow's match against Dallas Baptist. The match is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
