CONWAY, Ark. -- The Washburn Ichabods won their first two games of the Conway Regional with a 7-1 win over Parkside and a 6-3 win over Minnesota State. The Ichabods will be back in action with two more games in Arkansas with Nebraska-Kearney at 10:15 a.m. and Fort Hays State at 5 p.m. in non-conference action.
Game 1 - Washburn 7, Parkside 1
The Ichabods took advantage of a Ranger error in the first inning when
Samantha Stallbaumer reached on an infield single and then stole second and would come around on a single by
Kameron Kissinger up the middle.
Washburn added another solo run in the second after
Bri Francis led off the inning with a single and the scored on a double by Stallbaumer down the left field line.Â
Parkside cut the lead in half with an unearned run in the third inning, but the Ichabods came back with another solo run in the fourth when
Morgan Henry drove in
Ashley Ruder with a single to right center.
Washburn busted the game open scoring four runs in the top of the sixth.
Winter Henry singled to lead off the frame and
Sieana Hall doubled to left field. Stallbaumer drove in Winter  Henry and then Fuchs drove in two runs with a triple to left center as the Ichabods sent eight to the plate in the inning.
Reagan Hamm picked up her third win of the season pitching 5 2/3 innings allowing only the unearned run and
Bailey Zuniga pitched the final 1 1/3 in scoreless relief.
Game 2 - WU 6, Minnesota State 3
The Ichabods scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning rallying for a 6-3 win over Minnesota State on Saturday in the second game.
After giving up three runs with two unearned in the top of the first, the game would hold a 3-0 lead until the Ichabods added a solo run in the bottom of the fifth when Washburn scored an unearned run when
Winter Henry came around to score.
Trailing 3-1 entering the bottom of the sixth, Washburn scored five runs for the win sending nine batters to the plate.
Winter Henry drove in two in the inning and
Halle England drove in two more and
Brianna Fuchs had an RBI double in the inning.
Bailey Zuniga pitched two innings in scoreless relief striking out two.
