OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. -- The 25th-ranked Washburn men's tennis team came out on top in Saturday's dual against the Oklahoma Baptist Bison (0-2), taking home the 6-1 victory. The Ichabods improve to 3-1 on the season. 

The Ichabods claimed the doubles point after picking up victories at the 2 and 3 slot. Chase Brill and Marc Roura Casi defeated their opponents 7-5 and the duo of Raul-Alin Dicu and Bradley Eidenmueller posted a 6-3 win.

Paul Haase got things started for Washburn in the singles competition as he won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. All three sets were played at both the 1 and 2 slot as the players battled it out and it was the Ichabods who claimed both matches. Alejandro Valarezo Plaza won at the top of the order and tied the record for the most career singles victories in program history, improving to 78-29 overall. At No. 2 singles, Dicu clinched the dual for Washburn after falling in the first set and bouncing back to take the second and third. Brill moved up to the No. 5 spot in today's lineup and continued his winning ways with a 6-2, 6-0 victory. Roura Casi also added another victory to his season tally, recording a 6-1, 6-4 win.

Washburn will stay on the road and travel down to Dallas, Texas next weekend for a pair of matches. The team will take on Southern Arkansas at 4 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 and then face Dallas Baptist the following day with a first serve scheduled at 11 a.m.
