ST. JOSEPH, Mo. --- Selfless hitting was the difference on Monday as
Rorey Combs' sac fly lifted the Washburn Ichabods to a 4-3 walk-off victory over Missouri Western, claiming the series 2-1. With the result, the Ichabods improved to 10-11 overall and 5-7 in the MIAA.

Tied 3-3 in the ninth,
Steven Jacobson reached on a fielder's choice before advancing to the third on a single by
Brady Hoover. Then with one out, Combs sent a hard hit fly ball to center allowing Jacobson easily cross home for the winning run.

Xavier De Leon scored twice during the opening stages of game, giving Washburn a 2-0 lead after three.

Javis Larson then scored in the fourth as reaching on a lead-off single. After proceeding to third on the next at-bat,
Mitchell Lady drove Larson across for the third Ichabod run of the afternoon.

Missouri Western scored twice in the fourth before capitalizing on a Washburn error with one run in the seventh.

Washburn reliever
Brandon Gabler recorded his second victory of the series as he worked 2 1/3 scoreless innings allowing two with three strikeouts. Starter
Brock Gilliam had outing, throwing 6 2/3 innings with three runs on six hits with six strikeouts.

Individually, De Leon finished the day 3-for-4 at the plate with one walk. Jacobson also had a solid day hitting as he went 3-for-5, while Larson was 2-for-4 at the plate including a double in the sixth.

Washburn is scheduled to return to action later this week when it visits Central Missouri for a three-game set in Warrensburg.
