EDMOND, Okla. — Washburn baseball dropped its series finale on Sunday with Central Oklahoma, 10-3. The Ichabods tallied 10 hits with eight different batters registering at least a hit.
Peter Shearer led the offense with a 3-for-4 outing and two RBI and a run scored. Shearer notched the opening runs early in the first with a two-run blast as he tallied his second home run of the year.
The Ichabods were then held off the board until the seventh when Xavier De Leon doubled down the right field line pushing Wyatt Featherston across for the run.
The Bronchos however posted four-run frames in the fourth and eighth, while tacking on one run in the first and sixth.
Washburn starter Brock Gilliam was dealt the loss after surrendering six runs, five earned, on six hits in five innings of work. Nathan Lorenzen then worked two scoreless innings before making way for Brandon Gabler.
The Ichabods are scheduled to return to action next week, beginning with a non-conference meeting with Missouri Southern on Tuesday.
