WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- The Washburn men's tennis team had a strong showing at the last day of the Midwestern Invitational on Sat., Sept. 21. The squad sent three singles players and two doubles teams to the semifinals. 

In the first flight consolation bracket, Paul Haase and Marc Roura Casi performed well. Haase won both his matches to win the consolation bracket. He won the final match in two sets , 6-1, 6-3. Roura Casi went 1-1 and won his last match in two sets, 6-2, 6-4. Raul-Alin Dicu placed third in the second flight main bracket. He won the third place math in two sets with a score of 6-2, 6-1. Bradley Eidenmueller won both his matches in the consolation bracket of flight two. He won both matches in two sets. 

Chase Brill lost in the semifinals of the third flight main bracket in a Super Tie Breaker. The score of the match was 7-6 (8), 3-6, 10 (8). Brill made it to the third place match but did not compete due to the weather delays. Luke Howard won both his matches in the consolation bracket for the four flight. Howard won his final match in a Super Tie Breaker with a score of 6-7 (3), 6-3, 1-0 (4). 

In the doubles brackets, Haase and Brill won their semifinal match in flight one with a score of 6-2. The team did not compete in the final due to weather delays. The pair of Eidenmueller and Dicu finished the day 1-1. They won their second match 7-5 in the consolation bracket of the first flight. The team of Roura Casi and Miller Zeiders won their semifinals match in flight two 6-3. The pair moved on to the championship match, but lost 6-2. 

The Washburn men's tennis team will travel to Edmond, Okla. on Oct. 4 and 6 to compete in the ITA Regional Championships.
