Box Score KEARNEY, Neb. -- Washburn soccer won their first conference match of the 2019 season by shutting out Nebraska-Kearney, 1-0. This is the Ichabods' fourth shut out of the season. Washburn lead the Lopers in shots on goal 7-5.
In the first half,
Paige Ledesma and
Tera Lynch took the first two shots for Washburn in the first three minutes of the match. In the fifth minute, Lynch shot from 25 yards out to put the Ichabods on the board first leading 1-0. At the end of the half,
Mackenzie Menke and Lynch each attempted three shots. Washburn defense kept Nebraska-Kearney to zero shots for the first 12 minutes of the game. The Ichabods led the the Lopers in attempted shots, 11-5.
Raegan Wells saved all three shots on goal taken by the Lopers.
In the second half, Washburn defense, lead by
Kati Sneegas and
Whitney Bockover, kept the Lopers to zero attempted shots for the first 17 minutes. Nebraska-Kearney out shot Washburn 4-1 in the second half but were not able to find the back of the net.
Sydney Rosemann took one shot for the Ichabods. Wells finished the match with five saves and tallied her fifth win. Lynch recorded a goal and three shots on goal.
Washburn soccer will return to Yager Stadium to face Northwest Missouri on Fri., Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. Washburn will stay at home to host Missouri Western on Sun., Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.
