Box Score EDMOND, Okla. – The Washburn women's tennis team faced a tough task in their opening match at the inaugural ITA Indoor Championships, taking on the NCAA defending national champion and currently No. 1-ranked Barry Buccaneers. The Buccaneers won the contest, 4-0, on Friday morning. Washburn will take on No. 6 Saint Leo tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. The Lions were shut out by No. 5 Nova Southeastern in their match on Friday.
 
The Buccaneers remain undefeated and improve to 7-0 while the Ichabods fall to 2-2. Barry has won the last three-straight NCAA national titles and have compiled a record of 91-2 since 2017.
 
Barry swept the doubles competition to take an early 1-0 lead. The Buccaneers carried their momentum into singles play, capturing wins on courts one, two, and three to clinch the match victory.
