TOPEKA, Kan. – Solo runs in the first and third innings were all the Washburn Ichabod softball team needed to pick up its third-straight win with a 2-0 victory over Southwest Minnesota State in their final game of the 2020 Washburn Invitational. The Ichabods improved to 12-11 with the win and went 4-1 over the weekend. Washburn opens MIAA play hosting Missouri Southern on Friday in Topeka.
Brianna Fuchs led off the game with a triple and then scored on
Hadley Kerschen's single to center staking the Ichabods to the 1-0 lead. In the third, after
Winter Henry doubled to lead off the inning, she would score on a single by
Cassidy Greer.
The 2-0 lead would be all the run support Reagan Hamm would need as she struck out five allowing four hits in the complete game shutout.
Washburn outhit the Mustangs 6-4 in the game.
