- The Ichabods wrap up the week hosting the Tabor College Bluejays on Friday, March 6. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at the Washburn Tennis Complex.
- The Ichabods are coming off a 7-0 win over Bethel and are now 2-2 to start the season.
LAST WEEK …
- The Ichabods cruised to a 7-0 sweep against Bethel College on Tuesday.
- Chase Brill and Miller Zeiders got the match started with a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.Â
- The tandem of Raul-Alin Dicu and Bradley Eidenmueller clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at the top of the lineup.Â
- Bethel did not have enough players to field a No. 3 doubles team and Washburn won the point by default.
- Miquel Perez won the first singles point at the No. 3 spot with a pair of 6-1 scores.Â
- Dicu also won in straight-sets, 6-0, 6-2, at the top of the order.Â
- Eidenmueller topped his opponent, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 2 singles and Brill shut out his opponent at the No. 4 spot.Â
- Zeiders closed out the afternoon with a shut out of his own on court five. The No. 6 match was won by the Ichabods by default.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION ...
- Tabor Bluejays
- The Bluejays are currently 1-5 to start the new season after going 0-12 last year.
- Three of their losses this season have been 7-0 sweeps.
- Tabor is led by Luke Rencher, who is in his fist season.
- Washburn is 9-0 all-time when facing Tabor since 1974 with five of those matches being held in Topeka.
- The last time these two teams played was back in 1988 where Washburn came away with a 9-0 victory.

ICHABODS IN THE RANKINGS …
- The Ichabods were picked second in North Division of the 2020 MIAA-GAC Coaches Preseason Poll.
- Washburn will start the season ranked sixth in the Central Region.
- Individually, two Ichabods are listed in the top-20 of the Central Region singles rankings which were released on Nov. 19, 2019.
- Haase checked in at No. 9 on the list while Dicu came in at No. 20.
- Haase is also ranked in doubles as he and partner Brill are ranked sixth in the Central Region.
BODS AND ENDS …
- Washburn is 2-0 when playing in Topeka this season.
- Brill kept up his strong play in singles action as he improved his record to 4-0 this spring.
- He also continues to climb up in Washburn's record book. He currently has 65 career wins in singles, placing him in a tie for seventh alongside Ryan Ward (2006-10) for the most career singles victories in program history.
- He would move up to fifth on the list with three more singles wins.
- Eidenmueller needs one more to reach 45 career singles victories.
INTERIM HEAD COACH DAVID PRICE …
- David Price was appointed the interim head coach for the 2020 spring season on January 22, 2020.Â
- Price has been in his second stint as an assistant coach for the Washburn tennis programs for past three seasons. He also previously served as an assistant under head coach Peg Marmet.
- He brings over 20 years of coaching experience to the program.
- He was an Ichabod himself as he played for Washburn from 1988-92 where he played the No. 1 singles and doubles position.
- Price earned the NAIA singles and doubles champion titles at the No. 1 position his freshman year as well as winning the conference championship at No. 1 singles as a senior.

- The Ichabods will hit the road to Arkansas and take on Harding next Friday, March 13, at 10 a.m.
