Edmond, Okla. – Washburn men's and women's singles all were defeated in Day Two of the ITA Regional Tournament before making it to the semifinals.
Starting with the women's singles,
Marta Torres, the only player to make it through day one, won her first match but lose the second to the No. 2 seed. No women's doubles team made it to Day Two.
Isabella Martensson and
Maja Jung made it to the quarterfinals in the consolation bracket before being eliminated.
For the men, six singles were still competing on Day Two and three doubles teams. In the Round of 16 in the singles draw, No. 4 Raul Dicu, No. 7
Miquel Perez,
Sebastian Pjontek, and
Daniel Bird were eliminated. Bird was defeated by the No. 2 seed and Pjontek was defeated by the No. 3 seed. Perez and Dicu were taking down by No. 9-16 seeds.
Kim Niethammer and
Tim Hammes day would end the next round as Niethammer and Hammes lost tight matches against the No. 1 seed and No. 3 seed.
Doubles team, Bird and Perez, will be the only Ichabods competing in the final day of the ITA Regional. Bird/Perez took down the No. 1 seeded Jans/Blah with a score of 8-4. They then proceeded to win in the quarterfinals with a score of 8-6. They will compete in the semifinals against No. 3 Oliveira/Kearney on Sunday at 3 p.m.
