Box Score TOPEKA, Kan. – The Washburn women's tennis team defeated William Jewell, 7-0, in their home opener. The Ichabods begin their season 1-0.
 
Washburn opened the match strong sweeping the doubles competition to take the 1-0 lead. From the No. 3 spot, Cadence Lynn and Sydnee Foster won, 6-1 to start off on the right foot. Followed by Kinsey Fields and Marta Torres quickly sweeping their opponent, 6-0 from the No. 2 spot
 
In singles competition, Isabella Martensson finished first with a score of 6-1 in both sets from the No. 2 spot. Maja Jung in a tough battle earned the fourth point winning in two sets, 7-5 and 7-6 (3). Issabella Pensavalle had a strong performance sweeping her opponent in both sets out of the No. 5 spot for her first win as an Ichabod. 
 
The Ichabods take a break with their next opponent being Ottawa on Sunday, January 30. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Genesis Tennis Center.
