TOPEKA, Kan. -- No. 1 Washburn volleyball swept past Emporia State in Lee Arena on Tuesday evening to improve its record to 11-1 (3-0 MIAA). The Ichabods close out the week facing their fifth ranked opponent of the season at No. 7 Central Missouri on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The Ichabods led from start to finish of the opening set and used an 11-1 scoring run to propel them to the 25-18 game victory.

Emporia State (2-8, 0-3 MIAA) won the first point of the second frame and held an early 5-4 lead before Allison Maxwell sparked a 4-0 run to give Washburn a lead it would hold for the remainder of the set. The Ichabods won four of the final five points of the set to claim the 25-15 win.

The Hornets captured the first point yet again in the third, but their initial lead was short lived as the Ichabods rattled off seven-consecutive points and then five more in a row to go in front, 12-2.
