Box Score 2 KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Men's tennis finished the fall season with a pair of wins Saturday, defeating William Jewell 5-2, and Rockhurst 6-1.
In match one against the Cardinals, the Ichabods fell behind early after doubles play. Yoshinobu Nakatsuji and Miquel Perez lost to Ugnius Bickauskis and Loris Carret at No 3, 6-4. Moritz Pieper and Daniel Bird tied the scoring, defeating Max Quennery and Julien Lafranchise 6-4 at No. 2.
Noah Neideck and Santiago Rendon came up just short at No. 1, losing to Max Wheeler and Gage Foltz 7-6(3).
Singles play began with Miquel Perez winning over Max Quennery with a pair of 6-2 victories at No. 2. Moritz Pieper followed from No. 4, winning 6-3 and 6-2 over Loris Carret. Daniel Bird finished next, claiming 6-2 and 6-4 wins at No. 5 against Julien Lafranchise.
Daniel Harkin clinched the match at No. 6 winning 6-1 and 7-6(1) over Max Wheeler. Noah Neideck picked up a win at No. 3 against Gage Foltz, 6-4, 7-5. Santiago Rendon came up just short at No.1, losing 7-6(6) and 6-4 to Ugnius Bickbauskis.

Later in the afternoon against Rockhurst, the Ichabods got off to a better start in doubles play. Bird and Pieper led off with a win over Brian King and Josef Truhlar at No. 3, 6-1. The Hawks evened it up after Felipe Castellanos and Victor Cortes-Flores defeated Rendon and Perez 6-2 at No. 2.
Noah Neideck and Tim Hammes secured the doubles point at No. 1, beating Joe Harris and Semyon Tsyrenov 6-3.
Hammes continued in singles play, beating Tsyrenov again, this time 6-3 and 6-2 to win. Josef Truhlar defeated Miquel Perez at No. 2 in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 7-6(4). Santiago Rendon picked up a No. 3 win over Felipe Castellanos 6-3, 7-6(4), giving Washburn three points.
Noah Neideck clinched the victory with 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 sets over Victor Cortes-Flores at No. 4. Moritz Pieper beat Joe Harris 6-3 and 6-4 at No. 5 to add another point. Daniel Bird won 6-2 and 6-3 from No. 6 over Cris Cequea to finish the day.
The men's team finishes fall play 2-0 and will pick up the spring season with a road exhibition match against Wichita State University on Jan. 22.
