KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Washburn Ichabods never led falling in a non-conference contest at Rockhurst on Friday night falling 79-70. The Ichabods will be back in action on Tuesday at Oklahoma Baptist before hosting Ottawa on Nov. 26 in Lee Arena prior to starting MIAA play against Northeastern State on Nov. 28.
The Ichabods trailed by 10 at the half trailing 37-27 after starting the game 4 of 12 from the field falling behind by as many as 13 at 31-18 with 5:15 to play in the frame.
With the Ichabods (2-2) trailing at 59-46 with 10:08 to go in the game, Washburn ripped off an 11-1 run over the next 3:13 cutting the lead to 60-55 with 7:11 to play. Rockhurst came back with an 8-2 run of its own pushing the lead back to 11 just before the final media timeout.

Andrew Orr scored the third of his three straight baskets as Washburn pulled within 72-67 with 1:41 to play, but the Hawks hit a 3-pointer on their next possession and hit their final four free throws preserving the win.
Connor Deffebaugh has 17 points to lead the Ichabods adding four assists and
Jordan Vincent had season bests of 12 points, six assists and five rebounds off the bench.
Andrew Orr scored all 10 of his points in the second half.
Rockhurst was led by Jake Auer who had a career-high 20 points taking game-high honors.
Washburn finished 26 of 64 from the field and 7 of 26 from 3-point range hitting 11 of 17 free throws while Rockhurst was 26 of 57 from the field and 9 of 21 from deep and hit 18 of 23 free throws including 12 of 16 in the second half. Washburn was outrebounded 42 to 33 with 11 offensive rebounds turning into six points for the Hawks (2-2).
