Box Score TOPEKA, Kan. – Washburn women's tennis fell short against No. 2 Indianapolis, 5-2. It is the first time the Ichabods have lost to the Hounds as they fall to 3-1 in the all-time series.

The Ichabods have been dominant in doubles competition. The Ichabods took the early advantage with doubles wins from the No. 1 and No. 2 spots. The freshmen duo of Isabella Martensson and Lara Schmid got their second doubles win of the season, both from the No. 1. In the No. 2 match, Maja Jung and Kinsey Fields grabbed their 14th win together and the doubles point for the team.

The women's team has scored the doubles point in their last five matches and 20 of their last 22 matches in the last two seasons.

The Greyhounds tied the match at one apiece with a win over Martensson from second in the lineup. No. 14 Anna Novikova defeated No. 48 Marta Torres at No. 1 singles to give Indianapolis the lead.  From the three, Jung defeated her opponent in three sets. Jung won the first set 6-1, then fell 3-6 before winning 6-4 in the third.

Indianapolis won their next two back-to-back against Schmid and Svea Crohn to win the match. Fields would also fall for the Greyhounds' fifth point.

Washburn faces William Jewell on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 1:30 p.m. in Kansas City, Mo.
