TOPEKA, Kan. – Ichabod men's tennis earned their fourth ranked win of the season with a 6-1 victory over No. 28 Rockhurst.
No. 21
Matthew Earle and
Sebastian Pjontek began the afternoon with a 6-2. The duo leads the Ichabods (13-2) with 12 doubles wins.
Miquel Perez and
Santiago Rendon's success continued with another win at No. 3 doubles. Their 6-4 win moves them to 7-0 on the season together.
In singles play, No. 36
Tim Hammes was the first to finish at No. 2 singles. Hammes defeated his opponent in two sets, 6-1, 7-5. In the first position, No. 49
Raul-Alin Dicu battled in three sets to put Washburn up 3-0. Dicu won the first set 6-2, then fell 6-4, forcing a 6-2 third set victory.
Perez also competed for three sets but ultimately fell in a third-set tiebreaker.
Daniel Bird's performance at No. 5 singles was enough to clinch the win. Bird won in two sets with scores of 6-3 and 6-1.
Pjontek won his match at No. 5 singles 6-4, 4-6, 6-4. At No. 6 singles,
Santiago Rendon allowed just one game point in his 6-0, 6-1 victory
The Ichabods head on the road this weekend for two more ranked opponents in No. 12 Southern Arkansas and No. 48 Harding in Bolivar, Mo.
