Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Tex. – Washburn men's tennis wins fifth straight with 4-3 victory over Southeastern Oklahoma State. The final result came down to a three-set match win at No. 4 singles.

In doubles play, Santiago Rendon and Miquel Perez were the first to finish with a 6-4 victory from No. 3 doubles. It marks Rendon's second doubles win and Perez moves to 8-2 in doubles this season. The other two matches came down to a set tiebreaker. Unfortunately, Sebastian Pjontek and Matthew Earle did not win the tiebreaker and lost 7-6(2) from No. 1 doubles.

It came down to Raul-Alin Dicu and Noah Neideck in the two spots. Dicu and Neideck fought hard to win the tiebreaker 9-7 for the 7-6 (7) victory. The duo gave the Ichabods the 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

Southeastern Oklahoma State responded with two singles wins at the top of the lineup. Dicu fell with scores of 6-0 and 6-1. Hammes dropped his match 6-3 in set one and 6-1 in set two. Pjontek was able to tie the score up with a 6-4, 6-0 win. He is 7-3 in singles play and has a 4-0 record at No. 3 singles.

Washburn took a 3-2 lead when Rendon won from the sixth spot. Rendon defeated his opponent 6-3, 6-0. The Ichabods' lead did not last, with Kim Niethammer losing his first dual singles match of the season.

Perez lost his first set 6-3, then forced a third set with a 7-6 (7) second set win. Perez won the third set, 6-4, to give the Ichabods the win. Washburn finds a way to win another tight match.
The Ichabods stay in Wichita Falls for another day to face Midwestern State. The match starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 5.
