Box Score WICHITA, Kan. – The No. 59 Ichabods surged past another conference opponent with a 6-1 win over Newman. Washburn women are 5-0 against MIAA opponents.
 
No. 33 Isabella Martensson and Lara Schmid quickly wrapped up their doubles match against Antonia Ramos and Ana Zeikidze with a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles. Maja Jung and Kinsey Fields grabbed their first ranked win by defeating No. 49 Isabela Bifano and Dana Issabayeva to secure the doubles point.
 
Marta Torres and Svea Crohn led their doubles match 5-4 before the match was stopped.
 
In singles competition, Jung gave up just two set points in her 6-1, 6-1 victory over Bifano at the two spot. Cadence Lynn extended the Ichabods' (11-9) lead when she defeated Amber Hands, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Crohn sealed the game with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 3 singles.
 
Schmid won her seventh straight singles match against Ramos, 6-2, 6-1, all after moving to No. 5 singles. Martensson bested Murali, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 4 singles. 
 
Newman (12-9) denied the Icahbods the sweep with Issabayeva's victory at the top of the lineup.
 
Washburn competes in its final road regular-season match at Emporia State on Saturday, April 16, starting at noon.
