No. 15 Ichabods sweep Bethel College on Senior Day

Box Score TOPEKA, Kan. – No. 15 ranked Ichabod men's tennis blanked Bethel College, 7-0, on senior day. It's Washburn's fourth sweep of the season. 
 
The Ichabods recognized graduating seniors Raul-Alin Dicu and Miller Zeiders after the match. Dicu joined the team as a freshman in 2017 and Zeiders joined as a sophomore transfer in 2019. 
 
Washburn won the doubles point by sweeping all three doubles matches. The No. 26 nationally-ranked doubles pair of Matthew Earle and Sebastian Pjontek defeated their opponents by a score of 6-1 from the top spot. Dicu and Noah Neideck sealed the point with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot 
 
Zeiders, in his second doubles match of the season, was joined by Daniel Bird. The duo won 6-3 at No. 3 doubles.
 
All six Ichabods won their singles matches in straight sets. Miquel Perez opened singles play with a 6-3, 6-0 triumph over his opponent at the third spot. At the No. 2 position, No. 26 nationally-ranked Tim Hammes defeated Milan Bucek, 6-2, 6-4. No. 67 Dicu claimed victory with a, 6-3, 7-6 (5) victory at the top spot.
 
Earle wasted no time at the fifth position with a dominating 6-1, 6-2 victory. Bird topped Joaquin Pluis, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Finally, senior Zeiders gave up just one set point in his 6-1, 6-0 victory against Cade Anderson.
 
Washburn finishes the regular season at home against Cowley County Community College on Sunday, April 24, at 2:30 p.m.
