CLAREMORE, Okla. -- The Washburn Ichabod softball season came to an end with a 6-1 loss in the NCAA Regionals to Winona state on Friday. The 2022 MIAA Regular Season Champions finish the season 45-15.
The Warriors (41-16) scored two runs in the second, two more in the fourth and took advantage of an Ichabod error adding two more in the sixth.
Washburn's lone run came in the top of the seventh when
Jaycee Ginter hit her 10th home run of the season and her team-best 57th RBI of the season over the centerfield fence.
Ginter fell to 30-7 on the season in the circle finishing with a school single season record in wins and strikeouts with 290 as she fanned six Winona State batters.
The Ichabods, who were a preseason No. 6-pick in the MIAA coaches poll, rewrote many records in the Washburn history section.
