ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The Ichabods' journey ends with a 4-0 loss to second seed Central Oklahoma in the NCAA Round of 16. The 2021-22 season saw Washburn go from 4-8 to a 16-12 and in the NCAA DII Women's Tennis Championship.
 
No. 4 Central Oklahoma (22-1) took the early lead with wins at No. 2 doubles and No. 3 doubles. 
 
In singles play, the Ichabods (16-12) lost three singles matches in straight. 
Svea Crohn fell at the second spot to No. 8 ranked singles player Christine Canete. 
Marta Torres was defeated at No. 1 singles by No. 3 Mae Canete, 6-2, 6-1. 
Isabella Martensson fell to Grace Chadick by 6-1, 6-4, at the fourth singles position.
 
The Ichabods end their season with a 16-12 overall record and 3-2 in the postseason.

2021-22 Season Highlights:
 
	- In his second season coaching the women's tennis team, Kirby Ronning has a 33-15 overall record and led the program to just its second appearance in the NCAA Round of 16
- For the second straight season, Washburn landed seven on an All-MIAA team
- Lara Schmid received All-MIAA First Team honors as a freshman at No. 5 singles
- Three Ichabods were named to the All-MIAA Second Team, including Torres at No. 1 singles and No. 3 doubles, Crohn at No. 3 doubles and Cadence Lynn at No. 6 singles
- Five more Ichabods were named All-MIAA Honorable Mention – Maja Jung at No. 2 singles and doubles, Crohn at No. 3 singles, Martensson at No. 1 doubles and No. 4 singles, Schmid at No. 1 doubles, and Kinsey Fields at No. 2 doubles
- Senior Crohn ended her Washburn career 49-36 in singles and 67-19 in doubles. Crohn's 67 doubles wins is 10th in program history and her doubles winning percentage of .779 is tied 13th. She has a 12-11 singles record, and 20-4 doubles record in her final season
- Senior Kinsey Fields went 21-11 in singles and 46-24 in doubles during her four-season career. She went 9-3 in singles and 14-8 in doubles during her final season. Fields' 9-3 singles record was her best record of her career
- Jung had a career-high in singles wins and doubles wins. She went 21-9 in singles and 14-8 in doubles. In just two season she is 37-11 in singles and 27-12 in doubles
- Jung and Fields ranked as high as No. 29 in the ITA Doubles Rankings this year
- Lynn won double-digit singles matches for the second year straight
- Martensson in her first season at Washburn went 10-17 in singles and a 18-8 doubles record, mainly from No. 1 doubles
- Schmid tallied a 12-9 singles record and a 16-6 doubles record in her freshman year
- Schmid and Martensson are currently ranked No. 26 in the ITA Doubles Rankings
- Torres had a career year in both singles and doubles. She compiled a 15-13 singles record and a 21-5 doubles record. In two seasons she has a career singles record of 27-21 and a career doubles record of 34-11
- The Ichabods made their 18th NCAA Regional appearance and 18th MIAA Tournament appearance. Washburn also made their second NCAA Round of 16 appearance
