ARKADELPHIA, Ark – The Ichabods' season comes to an end with a tightly-contested, 4-3, loss to Ouachita Baptist.

The Ichabods (17-6) started doubles play with a Miquel Perez and Santiago Rendon defeating Fernando Doctors and Tobias Fuerschuss, 6-4. The Tigers (18-3) bounced back by winning at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 doubles.

Matthew Earle and Sebastian Pjontek at No. 1 doubles went blow for blow with Phil Exner and Alex Blanchar in a 7-6 tiebreaker loss. The two teams also battled in the tiebreaker with a 14-12 advantage to Ouachita Baptist.

It did not get any easier for either team in singles competition. The tiger extended their lead with a straight-set win at No. 4 singles. Washburn fought back with two straight-set victories to tie the match at two apiece. Tim Hammes won his singles match first, defeating Doctors, 6-2, 6-3, in the third position. The win breaks the freshman record for most singles wins in a season with 21. Rendon followed Hammes, surging past Exner, 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

Ouachita Baptist took back the lead with a win at the top of the singles lineup. Daniel Bird kept the Ichabods in the match at No. 5 singles in a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Fuerschuss. Unfortunately, Perez would fall to his opponent at No. 2 singles.

The Washburn men's tennis finished the season with a 17-6 overall, which is the most wins for the program since the 2006-07 season and the highest winning percentage since the 2016-17 season.
