AUSTIN, Texas – Washburn senior infielder
Brett Ingram has been named to the 2022 CoSIDA Baseball Academic All-America Third Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
He becomes the fourth Washburn baseball student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and the first to do so since Darian Abram also received a place on the third team in 2018. Former Ichabod Pat Colley was a two-time academic All-American (2000, 2001) and Andy Petz got a first team nod in 2011.
Ingram, a two-time All-MIAA second team selection from Leawood, Kan., capped off his Ichabod career with a spectacular senior season. He started all 55 games and led the team with 83 hit (fourth-most for a single season at Washburn), 20 doubles (tied for second-most in a single season for Washburn), 28 multi-hit games, and 60 runs scored in 228 at bats for a team-best .364 batting average. He was also second on the squad in home runs (12), triples (three), RBI (47), and slugging percentage (.636). Prior to this season, he had played in 63 games total and had 63 hits and 38 runs scored in 197 at bats scattered across three seasons.
On March 13 at Northeastern State, Ingram was a grand slam shy of hitting for the home run cycle as he finished the game 5-7 with three homers, four runs, and six RBI. He set Washburn's single game record for most bases with 15 and became one of three Ichabods to hit three home runs in a game.
In his time at Washburn, Ingram earned a place on the MIAA Academic Honor Roll all five years and was a two-time MIAA Scholar Athlete. He received his bachelor's degree in finance and completed his MBA with a 3.8 GPA while achieving a 4.0 during this past spring semester.
Washburn student-athletes have now accumulated 40 Academic All-America awards since joining the NCAA in 1989-90.
