Washburn soccer opens season at home before hitting the road

TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn soccer will begin its 2022 season Thursday at home against Oklahoma Baptist before going on the road to face William Jewell College on Sunday.

  • Washburn returns 13 players from the 2021 roster while adding eight freshmen and three transfers.
  • Washburn went 9-7-2 in 2021 and made it to the quarterfinals of the MIAA tournament.

Game #1 - vs Oklahoma Baptist University

  • The Bison finished the 2021 season 13-6-1 and 10-2 in the Great American Conference.
  • Oklahoma Baptist finished first in the conference regular season for the third time in the last four seasons.
  • The Bison defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State University 1-0 to win the GAC Tournament.
  • Lost to Minnesota State University - Mankato 3-0 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Looking ahead
