EDMOND Okla. -- Washburn men's tennis continued play at the ITA Regionals Saturday and finished with two players moving onto the day three final rounds.  

The Ichabods had three players remaining in singles competition and four teams in doubles play beginning the day. After the singles field was cut from 16 to four, and doubles from 16 teams to four teams the Ichabods will be sending one team into day three of the tournament.  

Sebastian Pjontek, Miquel Perez and Santiago Rendon began singles play. Pjontek and Rendon each picked up wins in the round of 16, both winning third set tiebreakers. Pjontek defeating the top seeded singles player 10-8 in the third set, and Rendon coming back to win 11-9. Perez lost his third round matchup in two sets. 

In the quarterfinals both Rendon and Pjontek's singles runs came to end, with Rendon falling in two sets and Pjontek dropping a close third set tiebreaker, 11-9.  

Washburn had four of the sixteen doubles teams remaining at the beginning of the day. In round two of the doubles bracket, Sebastian Pjontek and Tim Hammes picked up an 8-2 win. Yoshinobu Nakatsuji and Daniel Harkin also moved into the quarterfinals, winning 9-8.  

Daniel Bird and Moritz Pieper lost a close 9-8 second round matchup while Matthew Earle and Noah Neideck fell 8-2.  

In the quarterfinals Nakatsuji and Harkin were on the other end of a tiebreaker, losing 9-8. Pjontek and Hammes had another strong round, winning 8-4 to advance to the semifinals round on day three beginning at 3:00 p.m.
