EDMOND, Okla. -- Washburn women's tennis was well represented on day two of the ITA Regionals Saturday, with one singles player and two doubles pairings moving on to day three. 

The Ichabods had three players competing in singles competition, and three teams in the Main Draw of doubles play to begin the day. After the singles field was cut from 16 to four Washburn had one qualifier. And with doubles downsizing from 16 teams to four the Ichabods hold half of the semifinalist teams with two. 

In singles play Sonia Smagina and Maja Jung each won round three matches in two sets, both with 6-1 set two victories. Casie Curry split the first two sets of her match, but fell in the third set tiebreaker.  

In the quarterfinals Jung won the opening set of her match before losing the final two sets, the third in an 11-9 tiebreaker. Smagina continued her dominant performance with another two set victory, advancing into the semifinals.  

On the doubles side Washburn had three teams competing in the 16-team field, and another in the Main Draw B bracket. In round two of doubles play Lara Schmid and Sonia Smagina picked up an 8-2 win to advance to the quarterfinals. Maja Jung and Casie Curry won 8-3 to do the same, and Marta Torres and Isabella Martensson advanced after their opponents withdrew.  

In Main Draw B Maddie Shelley and Issabella Pensavalle lost the round two matchup, 8-1. 

In the quarterfinals Curry and Jung fell in a close 9-8 matchup. Torres and Martensson returned to play to win 8-5, advancing to the semifinals. Schmid and Smagina won an 8-4 match to do the same, setting up a matchup between the two teams in the semifinals at 3:00 p.m.  

Singles play will begin at 9:00 a.m. Sunday with the finals immediately following.
