MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – One day removed from winning the first ITA Doubles National Championship in program history, the Washburn men's tennis duo of
Tim Hammes and
Santiago Rendon moved into the Super Bowl of the ITA Championships taking the winners of the NCAA D2, D3, NAIA and Junior College ranks. The Super Bowl Championship will be played on Monday.
Washburn moved into the championship match by taking out the Junior College winning team from Cowley County. Santiago and Hammes battled back after dropping the first set to take the second set 7-5 before winning the tiebreaker 12-10.
The Ichabod squad will face Alex Gurmendi and Santiago Villarruel from Georgia Gwinnett College from the NAIA ranks in the final match of the ITA Cup.
