SAN DIEGO, Cali. -- Tim Hammes and Santiago Rendon fell in the first day of competition at the ITA DI Fall National Championships. They will take on the loser of the match between Wake Forest and Pepeprdine in the consolation bracket on Thursday.
Hammes and Rendon held serve early, taking a 1-0 first set lead over Cesar Bouchelaghem and Dzianis Zharyn of the University of Washington. They were unable to break the serve and fell behind before winning another point to make it 3-2. The Huskies duo was able to win three of the final five points of the set to win 6-4.
Hammes and Rendon fell behind 3-1 in the second set but won the fifth point to make it 3-2. UW won the final three points of the set to take the match.
The consolation match is not scheduled but will take place at the Barnes Tennis Center on Thursday, Nov. 2.
