TOPEKA, Kan. -- Washburn women's basketball scored the second most points in program history Saturday afternoon with a 117-27 win over Barclay College for the second largest margin of victory in program history as well. The Ichabods go on the road for an exhibition of their own to face South Dakota State on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
Washburn (5-1) won its fifth straight game with the result to continue the longest running win streak in the Lora Westling era.
The Bears knocked down two baskets in the first 2:38 of the game to keep it at just a 6-4 Washburn advantage but the Ichabods finished the first quarter on a 12-0 run with Aniah Wayne knocking down a pair of 3-pointers in the stretch.
Washburn started the second quarter 8-8 from the floor en route to a 38-point period with the home squad shooting 14-18 overall and 7-11 from deep all while holding Barclay to seven points in the quarter. A 17-0 run in the middle of the quarter sparked by back-to-back triples by Mackenzie Gamble and Gabi Giovannetti spurred the burst. The Ichabods went into the locker room leading 64-15 after scoring the last five points in the quarter.
The Bears came out of halftime scoring the first two points but would not score again until the 4:56 mark in the fourth quarter in what became a 46-0 run for Washburn resulting in a game high 93-point lead. The Ichabods shot just 42.31% from the field in the third quarter but forced 12 turnovers over the 10-minute period that saw Barclay manage only 10 total shots where they went 1-10.
Three straight points by Rebecca Snyder midway through the fourth quarter completed the 46-0 run and in the final 5:13 of the game Barclay cut down on the lead by three points with the Ichabods winning by 90, 117-27.
Washburn shot 51.3% from the floor (41-80) and scorched the nets from deep going 18-40 from behind the ar. The Ichabods dished out a season-high 29 assists and came away with 21 steals in the game as well.
Gabi Giovannetti led the way in scoring with a career-high 21 point on 7-11 shooting all from three-point range in just 18 minutes of action. Aubree Dewey had 15 points and notched the first double-double of her career with a career high 10 assists while also coming away with four steals. Aniah Wayne added a career-high 19 points with five 3-pointers and four steals as well. Yiibari Nwidadah had a double-double in just 17 minutes coming away with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Mackenzie Gamble and Madelyn Amekporfor also finished in double figures with 12 and 11 points respectively.
All 11 active Ichabods played at least 13 minutes in the game with 10 scoring at least five points. Barclay was led by Vivian Muniz.

Washburn broke the record for 3-pointers in a game with 18 triples on Saturday. The previous high was 17 in a 1/29/11 game against Missouri Western. The 40 three pointers attempted is tied for the second most in program history with 41 attempts against Benedictine on 12/30/17 setting the record.

Eighty-one field goals attempted are tied for the second most for any Washburn team.

Washburn made 21 steals in the victory, the third most in a game in program history. The high is 30 which came in a 1/1/06 game against Missouri Valley.
